Parenting Counseling At the Life Improvement Center, we offer parenting counseling to help you become a more informed and effective parent. We also counsel school-age children. The demands of work and finances, the high divorce rate, the availability of drugs in our schools, the failing educational system all contribute to an unstable family environment. However, the knowledge of how to raise happy children does exist. It has been used by thousands of parents and others to change lives.Unfortunately, a great many parents are told by school principles and teachers that their child has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Such children are prescribed mind-altering drugs, such as Ritilin and Resperdol. Yet, there is no such disorder and no test for it. Often, parents are not aware that Florida and Federal statutes prohibit school officials from coercing parents to have their children screened for "mental disorders" or "psychological problems" and placed on the drugs. Even worse, the same drugs are now being given to three and four month old babies for ADHD. Again, there is no basis for drugging either babies or children. At the Life Improvement Center, we counsel school-age children. We teach them better reading and comprehension skills, which are either not taught in school or are glossed over. For example, some elementary school teachers tell students to just keep reading if they see a word they don't understand. This leaves the student confused and without the ability to understand fully what he or she has just read.
